Nonsense Poem
Because it was Wednesday
Sydney went to see the Eiffel Tower.
The gendarme stuck his chocolate poker
In the cathedral,
And the sunflowers chased the mice away.
The rain took umbrage and went upwards;
Affronted, the clouds spat shooting stars.
Jenny raised a fist to the monkey
Who stole the shades from the hippopotamus –
He was sunbathing in porridge and blueberries at the time.
The politician took his mask off and sighed
As the DJ changed the record
From black to purple vinyl.
Fred stomped his feet
And Nancy did a pirouette;
Her proud mother rode
A shopping trolley to the launderette,
Posting her slippers on the way.
